Abstract
The survival rate of patients with cancer has risen consistently due to the advancement of diagnosis and treatment. To help survivors of cancer adjust more quickly to their lives, rehabilitation and health promotion are a new challenge in medicine. Exercise with cancer patients has proven to be highly effective, so it is strongly recommended. Cancer patients who exercise have reported positive, effects on fatigue, physical performance, functional capacity, body weight, body composition, physical symptoms, blood count, immunity and quality of life. Psychologically, depression, anxiety, and fear about recurrence of disease were shown to decline. Patients with cancer are required to submit to screening for identifying clinical characteristics and then commit to the correct exercise program The program of exercise focuses upon home and hospital based exercise. Home based exercise is very convenient and cost effective.- This type of exercise includes walking or brisk walking. The frequency was three to five times per week. Its duration is about 30 minutes per session Moderate intensity of exercise is completed and supervised by telephone counseling and exercise log. Hospital based exercise was done for inpatients or outpatients of ambulatory settings. Prior to the exercise, an EKG examined
"cardiovascular function. The exercise type was walking on a treadmill or biking on a ergometer according to an interval-training pattern. It was carried out on a daily basis. Daily duration of an exercise session is approximately 30 minutes. Heat rate during the exercise was controlled by a heart-rate monitor and during exercise a physician continuously supervises:, the patient. Some strategies such as telephone counseling; exercise log ,goal settings, reinforcement, negotiation, counseling-or discussion of physician during treatment and the protocol of ¢¥ exercise were applied to initiate, commit and maintain the exercise.
